I am new to therapy and a little nervous, what should I expect?

Therapy is a very safe, confidential environment where you will be able to share and speak about anything that you need to talk about without judgment. Therapy is an investment in the self and I take each and every one of my clients very seriously and give them the same respect that I would a close friend or family member. I understand that coming into therapy for the first time may be scary but believe me when I say that there is nothing to worry about and you will be very happy that you chose to pick up the phone and start this journey!

What’s the difference between talking to a therapist and my best friend or family?

Having a good support system through friends and family is an amazing thing! Sometimes however, it is most beneficial to speak with a neutral, unbiased person who can see your life from an outside perspective and give you guidance outside of those who already know you. A good therapist has multiple years of education and experience in dealing with specific issues that you may be going through during this season of your life!

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Sessions last approximately 55 minutes. During the time that you are in my office, we will talk about anything you need to talk about as well as do specific exercises and techniques that will quickly and effectively help you to overcome the issues that you originally sought help for. Each and every client's case will look a little different because each individual person is so very different and has different needs. We will work to create the changes in your life you are wanting to make and will have fun doing it!

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success! The more you put in, the more you will get out. If you approach with a sincere desire to change and work towards a better life, then the changes will be almost immediate in many cases. I am looking forward to meeting you!
